Rural & tribal livelihood

Opportunity built where people already live

Migration should be a choice, not the only route to an income. We build livelihood pathways inside the districts people are from.

Our position

Not a place to be rescued. A place to be connected.

Rural and tribal communities in Jharkhand carry deep craft, trade and agricultural knowledge. What has been missing is the link between that knowledge and markets that pay what it is worth.

We do not romanticise village life and we do not pity it. We treat it as an economy with real assets and real gaps, and we work on the gaps.

  • Local trades that generate income without requiring migration
  • Agriculture-allied enterprise: processing, aggregation, input supply
  • Craft and artisan work connected to markets beyond the local one
  • Digital access so distance stops being a ceiling on earnings
  • Programme design that respects existing seasonal and community rhythms

Craft and identity

Skill traditions worth paying properly for

Jharkhand’s wall-painting and craft traditions are living skills, not heritage exhibits. Where a craft has a market, our job is to connect the two and to make sure the price reflects the work.

Where it does not, we say so plainly rather than romanticising an activity that will not pay a household bill.

On language and representation. We do not use images or copy that present rural or tribal communities as objects of charity. Photographs on this site are illustrative and are not presented as pictures of the people we work with. Verified programme photography will replace them. Read why this framing matters to us.
