Employment

The step between trained and hired

Almost nobody owns the gap between finishing a course and starting a job. We do, and we treat employer relationships as core infrastructure.

Why this exists

A qualification is not the same as a network.

First-generation job seekers rarely lack ability. What they lack is the informal network that quietly converts a qualification into an interview: someone who knows a hiring manager, someone who can vouch for you, someone who tells you what the interview will actually be like.

That network is invisible to people who have always had it. Building a substitute for it is one of the most useful things a livelihood organisation can do.

  • Interview preparation and mock interviews with real feedback
  • Workplace readiness: communication, timekeeping, expectations
  • Resume and documentation support, including bank and ID paperwork
  • Direct introductions to employers actively hiring for that skill
  • Follow-up through the first months in a new job
The placement process

What happens after your course ends

01

Readiness

Interview practice, workplace expectations and the professional literacy employers assume you already have.

02

Matching

We match you against roles employers in our network are actually hiring for, in districts you can realistically work in.

03

Introduction

A direct introduction, with someone from Lakshmi Foundation able to speak to your work.

04

Follow-up

We check in past the first month, because the first weeks are where placements most often fail.

For employers

Why organisations hire through us

Screened for the actual role

We only put forward people trained for the specific skill you are hiring for.

A named contact, not a job board

You get someone who knows the candidate and stays reachable after the hire.

Honest reporting

We tell you when a placement did not work and why. That is how the next one gets better.
